Cadillac Summit Road Vehicle Reservations
Vehicle reservations are required to drive Cadillac Summit Road from May 22 through October 27, 2024. Reservations are available on a rolling 90-day basis. Be sure to click on the Seasons & Booking and Need to Know tabs for important information.
In addition to purchasing a vehicle reservation for Cadillac Summit Road, vehicles must display a park entrance pass through the windshield. Vehicle reservations are not required for other locations in the park or for visitors who travel by foot, bicycle, or taxi.
Acadia National Park is among the smallest and most popular national parks in the United States with about 4 million visits a year. Growing visitation has caused severe traffic and parking congestion at the park’s most popular destinations, including Cadillac Mountain. The National Park Service has established a vehicle reservation system for Cadillac Summit Road so visitors can find a place to park and have a safe, enjoyable experience.
Need to Know
- Park Entrance Pass Required
In addition to purchasing a vehicle reservation for Cadillac Summit Road, vehicles must display a park entrance pass through the windshield. Park entrance passes are available online at Recreation.gov.
- Vehicle Reservations Required in Advance
Vehicle reservations must be purchased in advance of arriving at the park.
Vehicle reservations are not available for purchase at the park.
Vehicle reservations are per vehicle — not per person.

- Printed or Digital Ticket Required
Print or save a digital copy of the QR Code that comes with the vehicle reservation confirmation email. It will be scanned to verify the reservation. Internet and cellular connectivity are unreliable in the park.
- Entry Time
Vehicles must enter the reservation area during the time period shown on the reservation.
Reservations provide a timed entry, but do not require a departure time until 9:00 pm when Cadillac Summit Road is closed to vehicles.
Reservations do not permit re-entry under any circumstances.
- Reservation Limits
One Cadillac Summit Road - Sunrise reservation is allowed per vehicle every seven days.
One Cadillac Summit Road - Daytime reservation is allowed per vehicle each day.
- Parking Availability
Parking is available in the west and east lots at the summit.
Reservations do not assign a specific parking space.
Parking outside of designated spaces is prohibited.
- Vehicle Length Limit
Vehicles over 21 feet long (including bike racks and hitch attachments), recreation vehicles, and trailers are prohibited on Cadillac Summit Road. Vehicles that exceed this limit will be denied entry even with a valid reservation.
- Motorcycles, Motor Scooters, and Mopeds
Motorcycles, motor scooters, and mopeds are considered vehicles, and a vehicle reservation is required for each.
- Cancellations and Changes to Reservations
The vehicle reservation fee is non-refundable under all circumstances (including missed reservations, early or late arrivals, emergency road closures, and inclement weather, such as fog, clouds, and rain) unless the vehicle reservation is cancelled at least 48 hours before the start time.
Vehicle reservations may be changed at no cost to another date prior to the date of the reservation.

- Business Activities
Commercial operators conducting business activities in the park are required to use a separate vehicle reservation system after obtaining a Commercial Use Authorization from the National Park Service.
Commercial operators cannot use private vehicle reservations to conduct business activities in the park.
- Educational Groups
Accredited educational groups should contact the park for information on how to obtain a park entrance pass fee waiver and gain access to Cadillac Summit Road when vehicle reservations are in effect.
- Island Explorer Bus Service
Island Explorer bus does not provide service on Cadillac Summit Road.
Booking Windows
Vehicle reservations are required for Cadillac Summit Road from May 22 through October 27, 2024.
Availability:
- 30% of the Cadillac Summit Road Sunrise and Daytime vehicle reservations will be available for purchase 90 days in advance of the desired reservation date.
- 70% of the Cadillac Summit Road Sunrise and Daytime vehicle reservations will be available for purchase at 10:00 am (ET) two days in advance of the desired reservation date.
Limits:
- One Cadillac Summit Road - Sunrise reservation is allowed per vehicle every seven days.
- One Cadillac Summit Road - Daytime reservation is allowed per vehicle each day.
Changes and Cancellations
The fee per vehicle reservation is $6.00.
The fee is non-refundable under all circumstances, including unused or missed reservations, early or late arrivals, emergency road closures, and inclement weather (such as fog, clouds, and rain) unless the vehicle reservation is cancelled at least 48 hours before the start time.
The vehicle reservation fee is not discounted for annual and lifetime park entrance pass holders, such as Senior, Military, Access lifetime passes.
Please cancel your reservation if you are unable to use it.
Cadillac Summit Road - Sunrise vehicle reservations may be changed at no cost to another date prior to the date of the reservation, but it cannot be changed to a Daytime vehicle reservation.
Cadillac Summit Road - Daytime vehicle reservations may be changed at no cost to another time and/or date prior to the time and date of the reservation, but it cannot be changed to a Sunrise vehicle reservation.
To change or cancel a vehicle reservation, follow these steps:
1. Log into your Recreation.gov account.
2. Select My Reservations from your profile.
3. Locate the vehicle reservation and select Reservation Details.
4. Select Modify Dates/Times/Quantity or Cancel Reservation.
